An Adaptogen is a compound or product that increases the ability of a person to resist, adapt, or become resilient in nonspecific ways to biological, physical, or chemical stressors.
Assam Tea – It is grown in the Northeast India state of Assam, and is very high in antioxidant properties. This high-grade loose-leaf tea has been shown to help fight free radicals and reduce inflammation. It has a rich savory aroma with a malty flavor.
Star Anise – An evergreen shrub native to southwest China, picked before ripening and dried in the sun. It is antioxidant rich, a digestive aid, immune support, anti-inflammatory, and supports respiratory health. In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is valued for its ability to regulate Qi (“chi”), or life force. h
Cinnamon – Once more valuable than gold, it is sweet & warming. Its documented use dates back as far as ancient Egypt. Originally from the Western Ghats of Southern India, our choice pods are grown in Guatemala. It is antioxidant rich, anti-inflammatory, and improves digestion.
Quinoa – Organically grown in Peru, it is gluten-free, high in protein and one of the few plant foods that contain sufficient amounts of all nine essential amino acids. It is also high in fiber, magnesium, B vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E and various beneficial antioxidants. Cultivated in South America since ancient times, and revered by the Incas as a sacred food.
Matcha Tea – Harvested in Kagoshima, Japan, from the same plant as green tea, the tender high grade tea leaves are covered the last 20-30 days before harvest. This increases the chlorophyll production, boosts amino acid content, antioxidants and caffeine levels. Matcha contains a compound called L-theanine which alters the effects of caffeine, promoting alertness without the crash in energy levels.
