Self-care rituals, sleep-supporting cannabinoids, and the art of the evening exhale
We’ve spent two posts talking about how to build a plant-powered wellness routine and why full-spectrum cannabis works the way it does. Now let’s talk about the part of the day that most of us get wrong. The evening. The wind-down. The transition from doing to being.
If your mornings are about roots and rituals, your evenings are about release and rest. And honestly, this is where the magic happens. You can do everything right during the day, walk, eat well, breathe, hydrate, and still sabotage your whole wellness practice by spending your evening doomscrolling in bed with the lights on full blast. We’ve all been there. Let’s talk about how to do it differently.
The Evening Transition
Your body runs on a circadian rhythm, which is basically an internal clock that tells you when to be alert and when to wind down. That clock is influenced by light, food, movement, and stress. When you honor it, sleep comes easier, recovery happens deeper, and you wake up actually feeling rested instead of vaguely robbed.
The transition starts about two hours before bed. This is when you start dimming lights, putting away screens (we know, we know), and shifting your body into rest mode. This is also when your plant medicine practice shifts from energizing to soothing. You’re not reaching for the sativa anymore. You’re reaching for the indica. You’re not looking for focus and clarity. You’re looking for softness and surrender.
Evening Movement and Breath
Gentle yoga in the evening is a completely different animal than your morning flow. We’re talking restorative poses. Legs up the wall. Supine twists. Child’s pose with a bolster. Forward folds. Nothing that fires up your core or gets your heart racing. The goal is to signal to your nervous system that the work is done and it’s safe to let go.
Breath work shifts too. Instead of the energizing four-count breath we talked about for mornings, try this. Inhale for four counts, exhale for six or eight. Longer exhales activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is your rest-and-digest mode. Do this for five minutes while lying on your back and you’ll feel your body get heavy in the best way. This is the kind of simple, free, accessible practice that costs nothing and changes everything.
Tea, Again, But Different
Remember that morning tea ritual? The evening version is its mirror image. Instead of green tea or matcha, which contain caffeine and L-theanine for alert focus, you want caffeine-free herbal infusions. Chamomile, valerian root, passionflower, lemon balm, tart cherry. These are plants that have been used for centuries to support sleep and relaxation, and they pair beautifully with the right cannabis edible.
This is one of our favorite combinations. A cup of tart cherry tea, which naturally contains melatonin, alongside a sleep-supporting cannabis edible. The warmth of the tea, the ritual of making it, the cannabinoids working with your ECS, and the herbal compounds working with your nervous system. It’s a full-body approach to rest that doesn’t come from a pill bottle.
The Indica Side of Wellness
Let’s talk about the products that belong in your evening practice. These are the indica and soothing options from our chocolate line and our Ahhlixr wellness shots, each formulated with cannabinoids and superfoods that support rest, relief, and relaxation.
Blueberry Vanilla Dream — Relaxing Indica Dark Chocolate
REST • DREAMY • MEDITATIVE • SOOTHING
This is our sleep bar. 25mg CBN paired with 100mg THC, infused with full-spectrum RSO, with wild blueberries and vanilla bean in a 68% dark chocolate. CBN is that sleepy cannabinoid we talked about last time, and when you combine it with THC in a full-spectrum extract, you get this deeply soothing, meditative experience. We add wild blueberries because they’re packed with antioxidants, and vanilla bean because it’s comforting and warm. This is the bar for your evening tea ritual. One triangle, 5mg THC with a touch of CBN, and you’re set up for a gentle descent into rest. It’s vegan, too.
Caramel Crush Calm — Soothing Indica Milk Chocolate
SOOTHING • RELIEVING • RELAXING
This one is for the evenings when your body needs extra love. Infused with Treeworks Hash Rosin, our solventless extract, at 100mg THC, with ashwagandha root, pink Himalayan salt, and caramel flakes in a 38% milk chocolate. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years to help the body manage stress and support restful sleep. When you pair it with full-spectrum hash rosin, you get this beautiful synergy of plant medicine traditions. This is the one for after a long day, a hot bath, and a good book.
Ahhlixr Sleepy Cherry Berry — Indica Cannabis Wellness Shot
SLEEP • CALM • REST
Our Sleepy Cherry Berry shot brings together 20mg CBN and 20mg THC with tart cherry, lemon balm, and passionflower. Tart cherry is one of the few natural food sources of melatonin. Lemon balm and passionflower are herbs with long histories of use for calm and sleep support. This is full-spectrum, fast-acting, and pocket-sized. It’s the grab-and-go version of your evening wind-down. Perfect for travel, for nights when you don’t have time for the full ritual, or for tucking into your nightstand for those 2 AM wake-ups.
Holistic Herbs and Supplements
While we’re talking about evening wellness, let’s zoom out. Cannabis is one tool in the toolkit, and it works best alongside other plant medicines and supplements. Here are a few we love and that complement our products beautifully.
Ashwagandha, which we put right into Caramel Crush Calm, is available as a standalone supplement too. It’s an adaptogen, meaning it helps your body adapt to stress. If you’re not having chocolate every night, a daily ashwagandha supplement can help regulate cortisol and support calm.
Magnesium is another one. Most of us are deficient and don’t know it. Magnesium supports muscle relaxation, sleep quality, and nervous system regulation. A magnesium supplement in the evening, especially magnesium glycinate, pairs beautifully with an indica edible for full-body relaxation.
Reishi mushroom, which we use in Raspberry Rosin Revive, is available as a tincture or powder for daily use. It’s an adaptogen and immune supporter, and in Traditional Chinese Medicine it’s been used for centuries to calm the mind and support spiritual wellbeing. A cup of reishi tea in the evening is about as grounding as it gets.
Lion’s mane is another functional mushroom worth knowing about. While reishi is for calm, lion’s mane is for brain health and cognitive support. Some people take it in the morning for focus, but we like it in the evening too, because it supports neuroplasticity and the kind of deep rest that lets your brain do its overnight repair work.
The point is that wellness is not one thing. It’s a web. Cannabis, cacao, herbs, mushrooms, food, movement, breath, rest. They all connect. When you start thinking about your body as a system that needs support from multiple angles, you stop looking for silver bullets and start building a practice. And a practice, done consistently, is what actually creates change.
The Art of the Evening Ahh
So here’s what an ideal evening looks like. Not every night. We’re not pretending anyone does this perfectly. But on the nights when you can, when you choose to, here’s the template.
About two hours before bed, start dimming the lights. Put the phone in another room if you can. Do fifteen minutes of gentle, restorative yoga. Legs up the wall, a few twists, child’s pose. Then sit down and make tea. Something caffeine-free and calming. While it steeps, do your breath work. Long exhales. Let your body get heavy.
When the tea is ready, enjoy your edible of choice. Maybe a triangle of Blueberry Vanilla Dream with its CBN and blueberries. Maybe a Caramel Crush Calm with its ashwagandha and hash rosin. Maybe an Ahhlixr Sleepy Cherry Berry shot if you’re keeping it simple. Sit with your tea. Sip slowly. Let the cannabinoids and the herbs and the warmth all do their work together.
Then read. Or journal. Or listen to music. Or just sit. The point is that you’re not producing. You’re not consuming content. You’re not solving problems. You’re being. And that being, that spaciousness, is where the ahh lives. That exhale at the end of the day when you realize you made it through and you’re still here and your body is still carrying you and maybe, if you’re lucky and intentional, you feel pretty good.
That’s the moment. That’s what we’re chasing. Not just with our chocolate and our wellness shots, but with everything. The ahh. The realization that you can support yourself with plants and intention and community and craft. That wellness isn’t something you buy. It’s something you practice.
Thanks for Walking With Us
Everything we make is handcrafted in small batches with organic, responsibly sourced ingredients and 100% loving intentions. You can find us at dispensaries across the state, and we’d love for you to come say hi, try something, and find your own ahh moment.
Until then, keep walking. Keep breathing. Keep drinking tea. Keep eating real food. Keep supporting your body with plants. And when the moment comes, that little exhale that says everything is okay, even just for now, let yourself feel it. That’s the whole point.
realize your moment.
